“I like a man who grins when he fights.” — Winston Churchill
Heroes and Generals in April released the latest build “Utz” which brought along a brand new map called ‘Forward Airfield’. The new map represents the small forward airfields built all over Europe during the war. The Utz Build features many other changes, mostly small cosmetic changes. One major game change that came with Utz is extended ranges of Airborne Assault Teams.
The Triple-A kept a low profile in April while we worked on our community, leveling up our characters, and tactically learned the new Forward Airfield map. According to players from all factions, the RTS side of the Utz build is getting frustrating, uneventful and expensive. Although the later part of the month, RETO did lower the cost of Warfunds for many Assault Teams so hopefully it will spark some life back into the RTS side of the game. What RETO really needs to do is make sure players are getting rewarded for good game play and eliminate towns being completely blocked by Airborne and Recons. You would think with the extended range of the Airborne AT, we would be in heaven at the AAA, however para spamming isn’t so much our style as actually fighting with Airborne Characters is. Para blocking can be a strategic move, however when you are sending 20 paras out to tie up your enemy’s ability to resupply or reinforce towns on the front so that battles are easy for you to overwhelm. It’s poor form, and the players that do contribute to this style of game play are usually over compensating for something.
We will continue training our new members and working towards our goal of providing a fun environment for all that join us. We are really looking forward to the next build and love the future of Heroes and Generals which is why every month, our ranks continue to grow.

Most of the combat during April was described above. The overall strategy is relatively redundant. At the start of a war, the Axis retreat south leaving Berlin, Copenhagen and Oslo to the Allies and Soviets. If the Allies make the effort, they can easily grab Zurich, Bordeaux and Prague in the process. However, 24 hours into the war the Allies run into a logistical problem where they are out numbered by the Axis. Hiding behind a safety net of para blocks, the Axis creep from the south to Bordeaux, then Paris, then… by this point, literally no cares are given by the Allies and a new war will begin.
If you can get the Soviets to fight on the Eastern Front, the battles turn out to be pretty decent. However any progress after that will be welcomed with a relentless campaign of para and recon blocks.
The Axis want easy-mode, the Soviets don’t want to fight. RETO has a problem there.
Glad they introduced the new Airfield Map. Forward Airfield is a great map, very well designed and a favorite among our members for both it’s look and feel as well as it’s competitive layout.
