Call of Duty has finally returned to its roots
They are classifying as a breathtaking experience that redefines World War II for a new gaming generation. We will land in Normandy on D-Day and battle across Europe through iconic locations in history’s most monumental war. We will experience classic Call of Duty combat which is at the heart of the Allied Airborne Army, the bonds of camaraderie, and the unforgiving nature of war.
The single player game looks to provide their players with the experience of the unbreakable brotherhood of common men fighting to preserve freedom in a world on the brink of tyranny. While multiplayer will engage players in grounded, fast-paced combat across many of World War II’s most iconic locations. Players will also enjoy exciting new ways to interact and socialize with their friends and the Call of Duty community.
Activision and Sledgehammer Games unveiled the first looks at Call of Duty: WW2, as well as confirming pre-order details for the game ahead of its November 3 release date on PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game trailer indicates that players will be following US 1st Infantry Division as they fight their way across Europe during the height of the bloody conflict. Which is reminiscent of Call of Duty 3 which never made it to the PC platform.
So far we know the missions will span from the D-Day Beach Landings to the Battle of the Bulge. Playing primarily as the inexperienced Private Daniels. Sources do say that there will also be a mission that puts you in the shoes of a woman fighting in the French Resistance. The solo campaign will contain plenty of other characters, too. Which is reminiscent of Medal of Honor Underground which was a prequel to the blockbuster game Medal of Honor Allied Assault which gave birth to the Allied Airborne Army. By 2004, the Allied Airborne Army was aggressively active in Call of Duty 1 as we provided a wide range of servers, as well as competitions. Check out our Monthly Report for March 2004.
One big new feature is Headquarters, an all new social tool allowing for creative modes of multiplayer interaction with your PS4, Xbox One and PC buddies which is going to be new to the Call of Duty franchise.
CODWW2 will feature Divisions. This changes the way you engage with your multiplayer career. Players can choose from a variety of different ones including Infantry and Armored Divisions. These will presumably come with their own individual perks depending on your rank.
Lastly is the War Mode. A multiplayer experience that aims to immerse the player in iconic World War 2 battles. Allied and Axis powers will clash in team-based skirmishes where gaining objectives is the key to victory. It sounds much like Battlefield 1’s Operations mode, where a contextual story inspired by real events is the drive for each battle. If true, you can expect these to be longer than your usual team deathmatch.
Activision and Sledgehammer Games will be holding a multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: WW2 later this year ahead of its launch on November 3. The beta period is confirmed for PS4 and Xbox One, with no word yet on a PC rendition. To gain access to the beta you’ll have the pre-order.
